Biography
[Edit]Formed in Sonora, Mexico, in 1972, Yndio had originally intended to name itself "Yaqui" after the Indian tribe that lives in Sonora. The name was already taken by another group, so they settled on Yndio instead. Their first hit came in the mid-'70s, with "Sin Tu Amor." The band had several other big hits, including "Eres Mi Mundo," "Herido de Amor," and "Dame un Beso y Dime Adios." They also scored several hits with covers of English language artists like Barry Gibb and Diane Warren. Their "Melodia Desencadenada" was a Spanish-language version of the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody." The band's output over their career was slow but steady, with 16 albums in their first 26 years. In 1998 the band released their first album with the famed Latin label Fonovisa, El Leon Despierto, which featured performances by several well-known guest musicians like requinto player Chamin Correa Perez de Leon and mariachi man Arriba Juarez.
