Livesexact

Boston's own Livesexact came together in the mid-nineties with collegehood pals Freedom Baird, Alex Westner and Stefan Agamanolis. Each were in graduate school at MIT and received a grant from the MIT Council for the Arts to design a group of non-conventional MIDI instruments. Livesexact did that and then some. They formed a band using stuffed animal drums and loop arrangements out of astro-turf. Their developed their own punk-pop sound and gained a following in and around Boston. In 1999, Livesexact entered the studio to record an album. They spent the next 18 months traveling between Vienna, Austria and Cambridge, mixing ideas and tweaking their sound. Upsetting Remedy finally saw the light of day in late 2001. Agamanolis had left the band by now, leaving Scott Schmitt and Amy Dattilo to step up to the mic. Martin Atkins (Pigface, Killing Joke, Ministry) was impressed by Livesexact - he remixed their song "You Must Get Down" for the Boston compilation Notes From Thee Real Underground in 2001. A year later, Livesexact issued a mix collection entitled Segmented Purity.
