Biography
[Edit]Connecting alternative pop/rock with rap and electronic style features, Headboard's music exposes cross-bred atmospheres made sublime by a two-piece vocal team. The composite character of their compositions, supported by Glenn Rubenstein's songwriting abilities, also demonstrates the bands' better command of delivering solid tunes, despite the fusion of multiple styles. It was in 1995, in Petaluma, CA, that Rubenstein decided to put together his own band after years working in the concert promotion industry. The evolution of his creations eventually led him to assemble a crew consisting of Christine Alexander (vocals), Josh Gooch (guitar), and Nate Meier (drums). The complete unit started running the California club scene, performing numerous shows and ultimately being the opening band for acts such as Run-D.M.C., Less Than Jake, or Bloodhound Gang. However, Headboard's main breakthrough came when the band decided to expose their work in MP3 format at several websites. The California squad soon became one of the most requested bands in a series of Internet MP3 locations, namely at www.mp3.com where they reached the Top 40. In 1999, the band delivered Crushing Blows, an EP containing some of their most requested themes. Their appearance on the television show Farmclub.com alongside Eminem and Doctor Dre proved to be yet another important event in Headboard's career. Their last album, Nothing Is Static, arrived in 2001, through the Orchard label.
