Biography
[Edit]In 2013, frustrated by what they considered to be an underrepresentation of women in their local music scene, L.A. teenagers Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad ditched their respective bands and formed Girlpool. As a drummerless, electric guitar-and-bass duo, they offer a sparse but spirited take on empowered indie rock, borrowing plenty of attitude from early-'90s trailblazers like Liz Phair, Juliana Hatfield, and Shampoo. Sometimes fun and playful, other times raw and vulnerable, their punk flair and honesty struck a chord with fans, and not long after self-releasing their debut EP, Tucker and Tividad were approached by British indie Wichita Recordings who set up a U.K. tour and re-released their debut in November 2014.
