Biography

[Edit]

Gifted singer and pianist Debbie Andrews was born and raised in Detroit in the middle of the turbulent '60s. When she was around seven years old, she began her study of classical piano. Her love for music and her skills increased over the years. A young Andrews impressed others enough with her talents that she earned a notable Jazz Fellowship Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. In the '70s, barely sweet 16, she landed her first big professional gig, appearing on Broadway in the nationally acclaimed musical Hair. She played the role of Chrissy.

In 1997, Andrews completed a solo debut album, Surrounded By Windows, recorded under the Cygnus Records label. The album's title song reached hit status in Europe. A year later, one of her songs, "Right Here in Your Eyes," was used in the movie The Ride. In 1999, Andrews finished up work on an outstanding full-length sophomore release, Suburbs of Eden. Some of the pop/rock and piano based tracks Andrews' fans can find on her albums, or catch live at her club appearances, are "Always an Angel," "End of the World," "Like an Echo," "Shoebox Memories," and "Intended."
