[Edit]Most Yves Montand collections that feature more than 12 songs are late-period live collections, but this title from the French Productions Speciales is from the prime of his career. Montand enthuses over 25 recordings from the 1940s and '50s with tasteful, buoyant accompaniment. The compilers obviously know their Montand very well, including a raft of Francis Lemarque compositions — "A Paris," "Bal Petit Bal," "Quand un Soldat," "Les Routiers" — as well as Jacques Prévert's "Barbara" and an endearingly goofy version of "Luna Park."
