With a success of 70,000 records sold in Germany, Yves Deruyter's "Calling Earth" single has the pogo beats, '80s techno bleeps, and carny swirlies to please most of those punters seeking out a different brand of pumping house. Whether intelligent dance music and outright silliness make good bedfellows is probably up to you. The "Tour De Force" remix thankfully keeps the original's more cartoonish effects at bay while the "Interstellar Mix" takes the opposite approach and sounds like a giant dribbling an entire dance club. Only the "Earthshaker Mix" keeps the eyes alight as it crosses over into so many European flavors (from happy hardcore to trance to techno and back again) with a little something for everyone. This is chic, accessible, "banging" dance music that would fit snugly on the decks of Carl Cox. Can 70,000 Germans be wrong?
