Wunder Wunder sound like both Australia and Los Angeles—you can almost see diamond-shaped bits of sun glittering on ocean waves as you listen. Producers and musicians Aaron Shanahan and Benjamin Plant relocated to L.A. from Down Under a few years before this debut LP appeared, and the sunshine-and-beachy glee of the music reflects both places. Somewhat along the lines of MGMT, the songs here are guitar-driven but built on electronic rails that glow with neon brightness. “Everything Infinite” is pure pop glory, with golden rays of synth notes and silver shards of shimmering tambourines, plus layers of harmonizing voices climbing like gospel exaltation. Among the pop gems are winsome, sleepy tunes like “Midnight Hours” and ambient explorations like “Dreams of the Fall” (flavored with some Beatles-style mind-tripping). “Trouble in Utopia” sparkles with a freewheeling Monkees–meets–Of Montreal vibrancy that's intoxicating, and hints of Tame Impala’s brand of psych-rock color “Dreams of the Fall” and the groovin’ “Sure Stuck.”
