"With his third solo release (following Secondary Protocol and the Jackal EP), Oxnard MC Wildchild continues to impress, dropping intricate wordplay atop strong production from Black Milk, Kev Brown, and longtime co-conspirator/fellow Lootpack member Madlib. Far from a gangsta but also not a stereotypical ""abstract"" rapper, he serves up dense verses dripping with subtle humor and insight, declaring his love for true hip-hop but avoiding the usual back-to-the-old-school clichés. Hiero homies Souls of Mischief co-star on ""How We Do,"" Stones Throw fam Oh No and MED appear on ""Eyes Wide Shut,"" Detroit duo Frank-N-Dank stop by for ""Ox to the D,"" and pioneers Special Ed, Masta Ace, Percee P, and MC Lyte go off on the triumphant posse cut ""The League."" There are a few skippable joints in the mix, but for the most part, Jack of All Trades is another W for Wildchild.  "
