These eight intriguing free improvisations feature bassist Lisle Ellis, drummer Don Robinson, and Lawrence Ochs (who is best on tenor). The musicians listen closely to each other and seem to form fully formed compositions out of thin air. Although there are some violent moments, attention is paid to exploring a variety of moods, from very lyrical stretches and unaccompanied ballads to intense interplay. Although not quite essential, this outing holds one's interest.
