Poppy punk songs of an execrable quality are pervasive enough. So it comes as a rare treat when one hears something fun and new in this subgenre. Another Day, Another Sorry State is yet another record of punk alternating between pop-punk and hardcore, but the interesting part is that it's from three guys from Japan. Kio, Masa, and Big Champion are their names, and the tracks they lay down contain such an infectious energy that the record is a joy to listen. Dammit, these guys should be on MTV every 20 minutes instead of the far less entertaining groups that somehow do make it. The record has a good sound with the reasonably med-fi recording, and there's plenty of fun and yelling to go around.
