Although Tina Turner is the top-lined artist on this meditation album, she is not featured as prominently as Dechen Shak-Dagsay, whose ethereal soprano dominates many of the tracks. When Turner does turn up, she doesn't sing, although she does declare, early on, "Singing takes you beyond." Playing with her image, Turner asks, "What's love got to do with it?" She answers that question with a series of spiritual and religious platitudes that make it clear that love has a great deal to do with everything. For the most part, however, this is Shak-Dagsay's show, and, as the title indicates, the tracks feature both Buddhist sentiments and Christian ones, at least in terms of the words used in the prayers. Shak-Dagsay sings "Ave Maria" in "Compassionate Love" and "Hallelujah" in "Dance with the Divine." Whatever one's religious beliefs, the album provides ambient new age music to accompany meditation and spiritual contemplation, with Turner as a sort of guest lecturer.
