Sometimes rigorous touring gives a band superhuman musicianship. Such was the case with Thin Lizzy—a group already tighter and more rocking than most of its ilk. And herein resides the proof. UK Tour ‘75 captures the band at its best: taut from promoting its fifth studio album, Fighting. Thin Lizzy opens with an over-the-top rendition of “Fighting My Way Back,” with Phil Lynott sounding more on top of his game than on most other live recordings. Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham’s ESP-like communication is another selling point; check out the raw riffs and wailing leads in the following “It’s Only Money” and the tightly fused guitarmonies that sing out over a fired-up crowd in the bluesy “Baby Drives Me Crazy.” Thin Lizzy’s definitive cover of Bob Seger’s “Rosalie” is always a standout, especially here. As rock lore has it, the song’s muse, Rosalie Trombley—a former music director of the Detroit-market radio station CKLW—threatened to fire anyone who played the Bob Seger track, but she'd turn a blind eye (or ear) to spinning the Thin Lizzy version.
