The group's 12-song self-titled LP isn't quite representative of their full range, but it's still mighty impressive. This quintet delivered a punchy, distinctive brand of British Invasion-influenced rock & roll, with enough of an R&B edge to keep them from sounding too pop-oriented; and they also embraced folk-rock successfully, as indicated by the Dylan cover here. Their singles — one of which, "Tormented," is represented here — were an even more interesting and diverse lot. And a good compilation on this band is definitely worth owning.
