[Edit]Featuring John Holt's wonderfully balanced lead vocals, the Paragons at their best were simply one of the finest Jamaican vocal groups of the rocksteady era, and their signature singles “On the Beach” and “The Tide Is High” (Blondie's later hit cover of this song sticks to the same arrangement calibrated to a 1980s dance sound) are enduring classics. This single-disc set includes both of these songs, plus the warm and graceful “Island in the Sun” and other sides recorded at Duke Reid's Treasure Isle Studio in the mid-'60s.
