[Edit]More Gregorian and ambient house than the pure synthesizer mood of the time, Tree is a low-key rinse of dance loops and stylized, archaic chants. It's Enigma's Cross of Changes without the pop singles, an exercise in vanity as well as something lush and pleasantly uneventful. Joe Taylor is skillful in avoiding chillout trends in order to produce a simple LP. No element overshadows another and there's a uniformity throughout that allows the deep bass to connect and build on itself, improving the album as it goes along.
