As its title suggests, the debut from The Madden Brothers (the side project of Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte fame) is a sun-soaked postcard from the Golden State. With a wild mix of influences ranging from The Eagles to Sublime to Maroon 5, Greetings is stylistically diverse but held together by its summery vibe and the twins' signature harmonies. The standout single "We Are Done" joins a bumping soul riff with a sprightly groove, exploding in a vibrant chorus, while "Brother" looks to the classic rock moves of Santana. Cowritten by Ryan Adams, "California Rain" is a dreamy ballad, whereas "Good Gracious Abbey" sounds like The Little River Band singing about a former emo crush. Who've thought these punk icons had such a deep record collection?
