The quartet of classic pop balladeers that made up the Ink Spots boast a European-styled delivery of the tenor notes. (One cannot help but expect them to shift to French on any verse.) The bright guitar rhythms hint at '40s-era hot jazz. Their unadorned, simple melodies often figure deep, bass spoken word portions. This combination of textures hearkens from a unique 1930s intersection of vintage jazz and sentimental, vocal-oriented pop music. This compendium gathers the best material of the original lineup and includes a very moving rendition of "Don't Get Around Much Anymore."
