Details
[Edit]Kirk's occasionally plain indie rock sound is greatly helped by the slanted and off-kilter chord progressions in Hail's songwriting. The album is at its most interesting on tracks like "Pyrite," where odd guitar constructions call for references to That Dog or the early work of Sleeper. Hail's pop dedication occasionally leads them into less interesting territories — bits of Kirk are competent but undistinguished indie material — but the edgy slant of the group's songs makes the record a rather appealing one.
