The Delta Rhythm Boys are smoothness personified and their sweet harmonizing and zippy lead vocals are featured on this 1957 release from Elektra. The 13 songs include pop standards ("'S Wonderful," "Blues Skies," "Side by Side"), jump blues (Louis Jordan's "Saturday Night Fish Fry"), ballads ("Something I Dreamed Last Night"), and novelties ("Cha Cha Joe," "The Riddle Song"), all given a lightly swinging treatment. The songs that feature tenor Carl Jones' magnificently deep and resonant lead vocals are the most entertaining tunes, but the group harmonies often dazzle as well. Sing was released quite a bit past the group's prime both artistically and commercially, but it is an enjoyable set that vocal group fans just might want to check out.
