The follow-up to Frost's original That Was Then This Is Now finds the Latino gangsta from Los Angeles polishing up his sound, resulting in a refined effort that elevates him to acknowledged status within the overcrowded gangsta rap genre. Despite not being affiliated with a major label, Frost's sound is remarkably pristine, both in terms of lyrical flow, talented guest rappers, and a smooth West Coast funk sound. Frost may not ever reach the recognized level of his peers, but with this album, he definitely deserves recognition as one of the best gangsta rappers in the game circa 2000. He not only showcases an elaborate gangsta lifestyle with his lyrics but also keeps his beats far funkier than what you would probably expect from an indie gangsta rapper.
