Under the guiding hands of Earth Wind & Fire's Maurice White the Emotions had their greatest success. The perky uptempo numbers and heart rendering ballads were smoother and more elaborate than their Stax recordings, where they had more misses than hits. Vibrant and perky "Best of My Love" finds the trio chirping to a skippy beat, a good workout record, that shot up the charts; "Flowers" has a similar feel to "Best of My Love," and was written by the same writers: Al McKay and Maurice White. The ballad "Key to My Heart" is majestic and sweet as sugar. The Hutchinson Sisters (Emotions) began as the Sunbeams singing gospel, they harken back to their roots on the gospel but R&B flavored "Rejoice," and "Blessed." Ten tracks sung in their patented kittenish voices; a few are not commonly found so you might want to check this out.
