[Edit]The Doors set up the Bright Midnight label to release live performances in their entirety for hardcore fans to enjoy. This collection includes the complete concerts for Live in Detroit, both performances at the Aquarius Theatre in Los Angeles, and Live in Philadelphia '70. The concerts are often made available separately. The tapes were made for the band to assemble their official 1970 live album (the excellent Absolutely Live)—but while that album was a double LP, it still couldn't completely capture the atmosphere of a Doors concert. There's a reason "When the Music's Over" can take more than 17 minutes to complete, or why "Light My Fire" can expand to nearly 20 minutes. Singer Jim Morrison's poetry and his dramatic intentions are balanced with a desire to be a bluesman, which explains why the band runs through "I'm a King Bee," "Crossroads," "Little Red Rooster," and "Rock Me Baby" while still managing to pull off an epic rendition of "The End." "Touch Me" is presented without horns and with a touch of sass from Morrison.
