After forming in Northern California at the end of the '60s, The Doobie Brothers would go on to release 13 studio albums between 1971 and 2010, selling more than 40 million copies. Known primarily for their '70s-era work, they went through a dizzying number of lineup changes. Their style evolved dramatically as well, originally favoring bluesy roots rock with forays into country, folk, Cajun, and funk music before embracing the soft rock/pop-soul sound that dominated their Michael McDonald–led commercial heyday. Still touring regularly (usually as a package deal with acts like Chicago, Boston, and The Steve Miller Band), the Doobies continue to sell out concerts more than 40 years after their debut. This compilation was released in 2013 and features live recordings of their many signature hits, including "Takin' It to the Streets," "Long Train Runnin'," "Minute by Minute," "What a Fool Believes," and "Listen to the Music."
