This two-LP set has 32 of singer Carmen McRae's finest performances from her Decca years. An excellent sampler that features McRae in 19 different settings, this was a pretty definitive set before the CD era. Among the highlights are "Good Morning Heartache," "Something to Live For" (which has the vocalist backed by the song's composer, pianist Billy Strayhorn), "Yardbird Suite" (recorded the day that Charlie Parker passed away), "Isn't It Romantic," "I Was Doing All Right," "Perdido" and "Baltimore Oriole."
