Bobby Fuller's career is well-documented, with a number of extensive collections that feature nearly everything he recorded. Anyone with a serious interest in rock 'n' roll of the '50s through the mid-'60s should look into the volumes of El Paso Rock and the set Never to Be Forgotten: The Mustang Years. But if your interest is casual, this compact set represents a quick, enjoyable breeze through one of the best catalogs of the mid-'60s. Fuller's love of fellow Texan Buddy Holly is readily apparent in his punchy sound and sharp song hooks. His cover of Holly's "Love's Made a Fool of You" is fantastic, and his cover of former Crickets member Sonny Curtis' "I Fought the Law" is a rock 'n' roll landmark. Other cool tracks from his time at Mustang Records include the thrilling "Another Sad and Lonely Night," the tender "Julie," and the harmony-rich "Baby My Heart." "I'm a Lucky Guy," unreleased at the time, is another highlight from one of rock 'n' roll's most underrated and often-overlooked artists.
