Originally mentored by gangsta rap god King Tee, Tha Liks soon made a name for themselves with the riotous singles “Make Room” and “Only When I’m Drunk.” At a time when hip-hop was rife with internal disputes and divisions, everyone could agree on songs like “Daaaam!!” and “Hip-Hop Drunkies.” Tha Liks rose above all pretension, combining the hysteria of House of Pain with the impact of NWA—and just a dash of Biz Markie’s horseplay.
