Drummer Terry Silverlight burst onto the jazz-fusion scene in the 1970s, appearing with his brother, keyboardist Barry Miles, on several noteworthy recordings. Basically, Silverlight is a powerful drummer who possesses an enviable technique while also enjoying a fruitful career as a first-call session man. And besides stints with well-known artists such as guitarist George Benson, singer/songwriter Roberta Flack, vocalist Mel Tormé, saxophonist Eric Kloss, and others, Silverlight has attained gainful employment writing and arranging for television. On this 1997 release, the drummer utilizes his studio expertise along with the assistance of a few special guests for a sprightly set consisting of contemporary, or perhaps radio-friendly, jazz-based themes amid a few blistering drum patterns performed atop his imaginative synth programming. Silverlight receives sympathetic support from saxophonists Bob Kenmotsu, Danny Wilensky, and someone who is referred to as Redwinged Sparrow. Ultimately, this recording is all about silky smooth soul-drenched lines, breezy motifs, layered keys, and lightly woven soundscapes as Silverlight's compositions boast radiant melodies and memorable hooks.
