[Edit]Cemil Bey (whom the notes compare to Mozart — a reach, but it gives some idea of his importance) was an innovator as well as a virtuoso on the tanbur lute, primarily known for his compositions. These wax cylinder recordings from the turn of the century breathtakingly reveal his immense talent as a musician. They are a revelation as well as a treasure.
