[Edit]Of Danish swing violinist Svend Asmussen's many recordings, this session for Bob Thiele's Doctor Jazz label should be one of the easier ones to find. Asmussen (teamed with pianist Derek Smith, guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, bassist Milt Hinton and drummer Oliver Jackson for a rare American date) mostly sticks to swing standards and is heard throughout in top form. 67 at the time, Asmussen was still very much in his musical prime as his versions of "Sweet Georgia Brown," "Lazy River," "A Pretty Girl Is Like A Melody" and "Careless Love" fully display. Recommended.
