[Edit]Ascension of Shadows is a large-scale tribal groove atmosphere from Steve Roach and Vidna Obmana (née Dirk Serries). This three-disc set runs the gamut of long-form composition. Disc one has three tracks, each over 18 minutes long. Disc two has one track over 71 minutes long, as does disc three. Roach and Serries have many long-form compositions between them. This set, well over three hours long, is a deep and moving piece of tribal minimalism. It plays best in solitude, on continuous play with headphones.
