Champion DJ Steve Aoki finally releases his debut album following years of running Dim Mak Records, promoting clubs, producing records, and spinning discs at A-list celebrity parties in L.A. Wonderland is thoroughly enjoyable crossover dance pop from start to finish, boasting an impressive cast of cameos from the opening cut. The infectiously groovy “Earthquakey People” not only features Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo—it has him rapping. The most salient song here has to be “Livin’ My Love,” a bubbling electro-hop hit graced by the presence of LMFAO and Nervo. Kid Cudi and Travis Barker appear on the slightly spacy “Cudi the Kid.” Unsurprisingly, will.i.am sounds like he’s having the most fun as his alter-ego Zuper Blahq drops hilarious rhymes masked in Auto-Tuned vocal distortion. And just when you think things couldn’t get any sillier, Sick Boy teams up with former members of The Exploited and Die Kreuzen for the industrial/punk-tinged “The Kids Will Have Their Say.” Of the three bonus tracks, “No Beef” is the standout thanks to soulful singing by Miss Palmer.
