Breathy vocals carry this 11-song disc of pop tunes. Most of the album seems to be mellow, but occasionally San Francisco's Track Star will emerge from their shell and hit the up-tempo and rock out. Lion Destroyed the Whole World is a rather laid-back ride through soft afternoons with jangly guitars. Comparisons can be made to a wide variety of acts, including the Beatles, Beach Boys, Delta Haymax, Softies, and various oldies bands. A track or two reach out and grab the listener, but much of the album stays right below that level where one can tell it's about ready to break and become infectious, but it never does. That's a shame too, because based on some of the ideas formulated here, this surely could have been good, but it was all too much of a laid-back, unchanging ride.
