An interesting library music collaboration, KPM: New York Trouble/Electric Progression features tracks recorded by bassist Herbie Flowers and drummer Barry Morgan for two KPM library LPs Bass Guitar & Percussion: Vol. 1 & Vol. 2. Longtime studio musicians, Flowers and Morgan were regulars on the British session scene and appeared on tracks by Elton John, David Bowie, and others. These cuts, originally intended for commercial use, were forgotten for over 40 years. Here, percussionist/electronic artist Shawn Lee, along with Tummy Touch label founder Tim "Love" Lee, have fleshed out the recordings with added instrumentation including synthesizers, guitars, vibraphones, and more. The result is an album of vintage funk, spacey atmospherics, and cinematic noir.
