The songs on Jimenez's 1988 session for Rounder were mostly rigid, but spirited, emphasizing the polka and mid-tempo beat and sung in Spanish. Jimenez played the two-row button accordion, and his riffs and solos were fluidly expressed and superbly played, while his singing was intense and earnest. Only on "You Are My Sunshine" did Jimenez veer away from strict ethnic traditions to do a fun/throwaway piece. Otherwise, these were topical and/or vintage numbers that celebrated the conjunto sound with vigor and love.
