An extensive double-disc set, The Samson Anthology ties up the New Wave of British Heavy Metal band's career, including strong early material with a pre-Iron Maiden Bruce Dickinson (then known as Bruce Bruce) and one song ("Brand New Day") from the group's then-forthcoming album. Since there is a fair amount of filler scattered throughout here, including a decent amount of post-Dickinson material, newcomers might be better served by picking up the band's two best Dickinson-era records, Head On and Shock Tactics. However, this does hit most of the band's best moments. Among the songs included are "Hard Times," "Test of Time," "Vice Versa," "Riding With the Angels," "Earth Mother," and "Good to See You."
