Notwithstanding the rather droll British joke of the title, and barely skirting a style of Romantic period kitsch, this piece still features surprising harmonic changes and lovely melodies a la Nyman, and retains the post-modern "edge" of his earlier film music. The concerto is of course based on Nyman's music for Jane Compton's award-winning movie "The Piano." ~ "Blue" Gene Tyranny, Rovi
