[Edit]Coming out of Atlanta's Capitol Homes projects, Rosco Dash started his rap career under the name ATL as part of The Blackout Boys, a group that put out locally popular jams in the late ‘00s. He scored a decent hit with "I Be Turnt Up," which helped get him a major-label deal. (He later rerecorded it with Soulja Boy.) Stylistically, Dash owes a lot to Lil Wayne, rocking a semi-squeaky voice backed by rowdy, club-centric beats from an assortment of platinum producers. Booming 808s and bright synth lines dominate, while he sounds off on the usual topics of romantic interludes, high-end libations, thousand-dollar designer jeans, and his rise to stardom. He flirts with R&B (especially on "The Impossible" and "Very First Time"), but for the most part it's top-shelf Southern pop-rap, with all the handclaps and AutoTune that comes with it. "Into the Morning" and "Awesome" are standouts.
