[Edit]Poisonville, industry veteran Ronny Elliot's 2001 album, is a fine Americana offering in the spirit of Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Butch Hancock. Lyrically, the songs engage an impressive range of topics, including Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen's ill-fated relationship ("Room 100"), Martin Luther King ("Letter From the Birmingham Jail"), and Jack Kerouac's novel On the Road ("Burn, Burn, Burn"). This is a top-notch amalgam of early rock & roll, blues, and country music bolstered by Elliott's salty backing band, the Nationals. Were he not geographically challenged (hailing from Tampa, FL), Elliott would certainly enjoy the critical accolades of the Lone Star brand of singer/songwriters.
