Though Rocío Durcal first garnered international acclaim as a teen television and movie star, it was her romantic ballads that may be her most enduring legacy. Duetos highlights Durcal's sweeping, emotive delivery in the context of her duet recordings. The disc also serves as a good overview of the many genres the Madrid-born vocalist tackled throughout her career. From the gentle, slow jam-style hip-hop beats of "Costumbres" (with Mexican pop vocal trio Pandora) to the alternative rock-ish "La Gata Bajo La Luvia" (with fiery siren Edith Márquez) and the norteño standard "Y Nos Dieron Las Diez" (with Spanish rock en español singer Joaquín Sabina), the album showcases Durcal's passionate interpretive skills and full-bodied, slightly edgy vocal timbre, as well as her flexibility in duo settings.
