Young Eagle's Flight is a collection of lullabies, courting songs and other traditional songs for Native American flute by Robert Tree Cody. A mixture of traditional and original pieces, Young Eagle's Flight exhibits the versatility of the flute. "South American Sunrise Song" is playful traditional flute song from the tribes of Latin America, one of the few surviving pre-Columbian flute melodies. "Water Song," composed by Cody while visiting the Ah-nesh-nabe (Chippewa) people of northern Minnesota, has a pellucid, liquid sound to it with the flute notes bobbing like water lilies in the lake. While Cody can express a range of emotions on the flute, the album still provides a consistent, soothing listening experience.
