[Edit]The four tracks on Rick Wade's debut for the Detroit-based Moods & Grooves label manage to touch on four different approaches to deep house. The two A-side tracks — "Thought Process" and "Forever Night" — focus on a light style of mid-tempo house music with a sprinkled amount of piano keys and a quiet synth background while focusing primarily on the rhythm. The B-side tracks — "Bangin'" and "Pimp Factor" — move away from this more tranquil sound towards a more colorful approach, with stronger, more prominent percussion and a foreground assortment of synth. For a single 12", Quantum Expression manages to present differing feels while still maintaining a high sense of quality, characterized primarily by Wade's simple but well-executed use of mid-tempo dancefloor rhythms and airy keys.
