[Edit]

A solidly traditional set of interpretations of standards like "The Cuckoo," "Rollin My Sweet Baby's Arms," "East Virginia Blues," and "Railroad Bill," as well as occasional blues covers ("Candyman," "San Francisco Bay Blues"). John Heard (second guitar) and Ralph Rinzler (mandolin) help out occasionally on this set, which has been combined with another early-'60s Prestige album, Sings the Songs of Woody Guthrie, on Fantasy's Hard Travelin' CD reissue (with one song, "I Love You So/I Got a Woman," omitted for space reasons).
