A prolific producer from the Bay Area, DJ Fresh has been dropping his ongoing Tonite Show mixtapes for several years, hooking up with a diverse roster of rappers including J Stalin & Beeda Weeda, Mistah FAB, Smigg Dirtee, San Quinn, The Jacka, D-Lo, and Philthy Rich. In connecting with Raekwon, he expands his brand outside of Cali and proves he can work his magic with bigger and more established stars. As always, Rae's verses are highly visual and cinematic. He delivers them in his signature raspy and mellow tone, which could make a shopping list sound cool. Fresh's beats are loaded with finely chopped old-school soul samples, layered drum lines, and big synths, with joints that range from neckbreaking funk anthems ("Double Dragons" featuring Mean Doe Green) to shiny, club-ready R&B-style numbers ("So Much Body"). While it won't go down as a classic on par with OB4CL, this is still a highly enjoyable effort from two vets.
