[Edit]Unlike The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones, this second posthumous album from the late Pimp C sounds noticeably patched together. Guest shots and a sensible running order for the tracks keep things from getting too bumpy, plus the highlights are surprisingly high, with Bun B and Big K.R.I.T. offering a UGK-styled rider’s anthem for 2011 (“Grippin on the Wood”) while Too Short stops by for a righteous, veteran pimp track that destroys all the players (“Fuck Boy”). DJ Screw worship and Texas-based guest stars make “Watch the Reaction” a prime Lone Star thug cut, and with “Finer Things” being the kind of polished, panty-dropping number the Pimp excels at, Still Pimping has more highlights than expected. Even if his pimp-hand doesn’t seem to guide much of the album’s fourth quarter, hardcore fans will find enough here to warrant a return or two.
