The seventh collaboration between Shetland fiddler Aly Bain and Scottish accordion player/multi-instrumentalist Phil Cunningham, two of traditional Celtic music's most notable modern practitioners, arrives on the heels of their 25th anniversary as touring partners. Warm, inviting, and imbued with the easy gait of years of familiarity with each other's playing style, the all instrumental 11-track Five and Twenty breaks little ground in the traditional folk department, but it's a pleasure to spend time with nonetheless.
