Sonorama does it again! The German label assembles an all new compilation by composer, trombonist, and arranger Peter Herbolzheimer, produced between 1970 and 1975 in Cologne and Munich with legendary musicians from his explosive Rhythm Combination & Brass band. What sets this comp apart is that these are newly discovered sound library tracks! The music is straight, mostly Latin-oriented big-band soul and funk. Herbolzheimer always surrounded himself with the best musicians available, and some of the international group of players bear that out: Art Farmer, Dieter Reith, Herb Geller, Jiggs Whigham, Dusko Goykovich, Ack van Rooyen, Palle Mikkelborg, Siegfried Schwab, Tony Inzalaco, Philip Catherine, and Peter Trunk, to name a few. Every cut is a stone winner. Anyone who's been collecting the MPS LPs or has sprung for the collected works on the four-CD set needs this (it's available on both CD and vinyl). These recordings compiled by Ekkehart Fleischhammer — who also wrote the liner notes — were 24-bit remastered. The sleeve booklet also contains previously unreleased photos (some contributed by Gisela Herbolzheimer). Highly recommended.
