Live At Lollapalooza 2007: Pearl Jam

As a band who understood from the beginning that their commercial fortunes were never as important as staying true to their artistic visions, Pearl Jam move through their career with a strong sense of identity that makes them a premier live group. Their catalog is deep and diverse and their improvisatory sense makes each concert more than a reshuffle of their best songs but a distinctive performance with its peaks and valleys on any given night. Many of their choices do trend towards the first batch of albums, with obvious fan favorites such as "Corduroy," "Even Flow," "Not For You," "Daughter," "Alive," "Better Man" and "Rearviewmirror" bringing the crowd alive (though, no "Jeremy"). Yet, the inclusion of an epic version of Victoria Williams' "Crazy Mary," the Singles soundtrack tune "State of Love and Trust" and songs from their then-current self-titled 2006 album such as "Life Wasted," "Wasted (Reprise)," "World Wide Suicide" and "Severed Hand" gives the concert a unique presence. Sound quality is excellent and their cover of Neil Young's "Rockin' In the Free World" is the cathartic last stand that's made the song their own.
