The First Conspiracy is a combination of four 7"s released in Europe. If one is familiar with lead singer Dennis Lyxzen's former band, Refused, and where they ended their career at, this album seems like the logical continuation of that. The music is garage rock, but Dennis' vocals still occasionally sound like they did with Refused. The First Conspiracy is twelve songs of raw energy and stripped-down, free rock & roll in the '70s revivalist sense. Lyrically, the band speaks on their anti-establishment, Marxist struggle, with songs that focus on the illusions of state bureaucracy and liberation of the proletariat. Perhaps not the best album for newcomers to the International Noise Conspiracy to start out with, but for die-hard fans, it will be an essential.
