[Edit]Two French improvising pals got together and recorded a CD in one day, with results that are pleasant but neither startling nor innovative. Akchote's sound is at first awkwardly tinny, making for a cruddy sounding combination with the reed player's efforts. Then, a more acoustic guitar sound emerges, being used in conjunction with what sounds like a volume pedal, a favorite ploy for a picker dealing with a saxophonist. Meillier gets into some Anthony Braxton-style alto playing, then picks up the flute and plays it a bit weakly, an influence that could also be blamed on Braxton. The two players continue tuning into each other and there are really some nice moments that happen amongst the eight selections.
